🇨🇦 The Wait Is Over: Express Entry Draws Are Back — and the Cutoff Dropped

Express Entry CEC draw June 2026 4000 invitations

After the longest pause of the year, Express Entry is moving again — and the news is good for candidates. On June 23, 2026, IRCC issued 4,000 invitations to Canadian Experience Class candidates at a CRS cutoff of 516, the largest CEC round since March and a rare case of a bigger draw and a lower score at the same time.

📈 A Genuine Reversal
The cutoff came in two points below the previous CEC draw on May 27 (518), even though nearly four weeks had passed — a gap that would normally push scores higher. Jumping the draw size to 4,000 absorbed that pressure and still lowered the bar, the clearest reversal of 2026's shrinking-draw trend in more than three months.

🔄 The Cluster Is Back
The CEC round landed just one day after a record-setting PNP draw on June 22, restoring the familiar PNP-then-CEC rhythm after a 25-day silence. With the Express Entry pool at 239,645 candidates as of June 21, the return to back-to-back rounds is a welcome signal for everyone waiting.

🧭 What It Means for You
If you're in the pool, this is the moment to make sure your profile and documents are sharp. Larger draws with easing cutoffs reward candidates who are ready to act the moment an invitation arrives.

Canada's population growth has stalled in early 2026 as lower immigration targets take hold. New figures show the slowdown follows Ottawa's reduced admissions plan, a notable turn for a country whose recent growth has been driven almost entirely by immigration — with implications for the labour market and future intake levels. How to Avoid Costly Refusals When Immigrating to Canada

How to avoid costly immigration refusals

🇨🇦 Navigating Canadian immigration alone can double your risk of refusal according to IRCC's own findings. Many applicants miss critical details or misunderstand complex rules, leading to expensive mistakes.

Don't Risk It: How Self-Representation in Canadian Immigration Doubles Your Chances of Refusal

Here's why you shouldn't go at it alone:

  • 📈 Self-represented applicants face nearly double the refusal rates (19.3% vs. 10.4%)
  • ⚠️ Even accidental mistakes or omissions can lead to a finding of misrepresentation and a five-year ban under Canadian law
  • 🕒 Timely, correct responses to Procedural Fairness Letters (PFLs) require legal know-how by a Canadian Lawyer (not a Consultant)
  • 📋 Missing or incorrect documents cause automatic rejections
  • Understand the differences between a Lawyer and a Consultant
