TRENDING NEWS Canada is building a new Express Entry platform. IRCC has confirmed a Digital Platform Modernization initiative whose first release includes a fresh Expression of Interest system for managing Express Entry. It is a technology upgrade rather than a policy change, but IRCC says it will enable more automation, AI integration and faster rollout of future immigration rules. Effective September 4, a temporary public policy allows valid work-permit holders to take courses of six months or less without a separate study permit, through December 31, 2027. It is designed to help temporary workers upgrade skills and reach higher-skilled jobs; longer programs still require a study permit. After IRCC clarified in June that graduates of non-credit programs are ineligible for Post-Graduation Work Permits, refusals mounted — and removal orders issued to protesters at an August Calgary demonstration escalated the dispute.
