🛂 Canada Tightens Immigration and Border Controls with New Law
What Is the Strong Borders Act? 🚨
Canada has introduced the Strong Borders Act, a powerful new law to crack down on crime, enhance border security, and make immigration and asylum systems stricter. It gives more authority to law enforcement, strengthens asylum rules, and targets illegal fentanyl, organized crime, and money laundering.
New Immigration and Asylum Rules 🧾
The law introduces tougher rules for immigration and refugee claims, including the power to cancel applications and expand eligibility restrictions. It also boosts data sharing across federal agencies to detect and manage risks more efficiently.
Fighting Crime and Drugs đź’Š
The Act lets law enforcement better track fentanyl ingredients, inspect mail, and gather online data with legal warrants. These steps aim to disrupt transnational crime networks and save lives by reducing drug trafficking.
$1.3 Billion Border Plan đź’°
Canada will invest $1.3 billion in new border security measures, including 2,000+ new CBSA and RCMP staff, canine detection teams, and anti-money laundering enforcement.
