📈 What Happened
Canadian employers’ demand for temporary foreign workers has risen across Canada, and across a multitude of sectors, with employers given the chance to hire more than twice the number of people in 2023 than five years ago. 

💼 Why it’s Happening
One reason for this increase is the government's relaxed rules after the pandemic. According to Kelly Higginson, President of Restaurants Canada, many businesses used TFWP to reopen and serve their communities.

📜 Facing Criticism  
Despite its benefits, the TFWP has faced criticism that it puts workers in vulnerable positions and undermines fair competition. Temporary foreign workers often face abuse, low pay, and poor housing. Critics have highlighted that the program treats workers as disposable and have called for better protection and rights for them.
