Canada Ranked As The Seventh-Best Country In The World

Canada Ranked As The Seventh-Best Country In The World

Canada has once again secured its place among the top countries globally, landing in seventh position, according to a latest Insider Monkey listing. This standing highlights Canada's thriving economy, cultural diversity, and particularly, its welcoming stance towards immigration from across the world

🍁 Development Excellence
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) defines the Human Development Index (HDI) as a summary measure of average achievement in key dimensions of human development. Canada excels in dimensions such as promising its residents a long and healthy life, decent education, and a good standard of living.

📈 Impressive Statistics 
As of 2024, Canada boasts a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $2.47 trillion. In 2021, its Human Development Index (HDI) was an impressive 0.936, reflecting its commitment to the well-being of its citizens. Additionally, with eight million foreign-born residents, Canada celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

🚀 Topping Other Rankings
US News and World Report ranked Canada as the second-best country in the world, particularly praising its high-tech industrial society with a high standard of living. In 2021, Canada topped the ranking for its “stable and safe society” in which individuals can “develop and prosper.”

🌍 A Multifaceted Society
From being a significant exporter of energy and minerals to actively participating in peacekeeping missions, Canada's influence extends beyond its borders. As a member of various international organizations, it continues to champion stability and equality on the world stage.

  • Canadian immigration started off strong in the new year, with PR numbers up by 28 percent (47,660) in January compared to the month before, but slightly lower than the number that arrived in the first month of 2023. Projections show potential for 21.3% growth in 2024, aligning with Canada's ambitious immigration targets. Ontario, moreover, remains the top choice for newcomers. Read more

  • The Start-Up Visa (SUV) saw a remarkable 58.1% surge in January, welcoming 490 immigrant entrepreneurs as new permanent residents. Last year, the SUV set a new record as 1,460 new permanent residents arrived through it, easily beating out the previous record of 575 new permanent residents in 2022. That explosive growth in the SUV is still happening, and showing no signs of slowing down. Read more

  • At 1,830, the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) helped 11.6 percent more foreign nationals become permanent residents in January compared to the month before that, as 2023 was drawing to a close. However, the number is down by 11.6% from January 2023. Ontario, Canada’s most populous province, saw the greatest number of arrivals in January, at 925 parents and grandparents. At the same time, Nova Scotia saw the biggest gains in PGP immigration in percentage terms in January.  Read more 

  • In February, Canada's employment rate fell to 61.5% as population growth outpaced job creation, marking the fifth consecutive monthly decline. Employment rose by 41,000, led by a boost in full-time positions. Notably, women aged 25 to 54 saw increased employment rates, while certain sectors like accommodation and food services showed recovery. Despite challenges, avenues like the Global Talent Stream and Express Entry system continue to offer opportunities for economic immigration. Read more
